VIZIO Smart TVs and soundbars offer powerful features like voice control, content personalization, and app management—but to unlock these features fully, you need to link your device to your VIZIO account. Here's your complete guide.
What You Need
- Vizio Smart TV: Any SmartCast model (2016–2025) or older VIA/VIA Plus model (2009–2017) that supports account linking.
- Wi-Fi or Ethernet: Your TV needs to be online (check my previous guide for Wi-Fi setup if you need help).
- Vizio Account: Make one at vizio.com/setup or in the Vizio Mobile app if you don’t have one.
- Vizio Remote or Alternative: Use the remote, Vizio Mobile app, or a USB keyboard.
- Phone, Tablet, or Computer: To enter a Vizio code from the TV.
Easy Steps to Link Your Vizio TV to Your Vizio Account
Way 1: Using the Remote and a Web Browser
- Press the Power button on the remote (top right, looks like a circle with a line) or the TV’s power button (usually on the back or bottom).
- Make sure the TV is connected to Wi-Fi or an Ethernet cable.
- Press the V or Home button on the remote to open the SmartCast Home screen (for newer TVs, 2016–2025).
- For older TVs (VIA/VIA Plus), press the VIA button to see the app menu.
- Use the arrow buttons to select Extras (usually on the right of the Home screen).
- Choose Settings (gear icon) and press OK.
- Go to System, then Vizio Account or Reset & Admin.
- Select Link Account or Link, or Create Account. If you already linked an account, choose Unlink Account first, then try again.

On your phone, tablet, or computer, open a browser and go to vizio.com/setup. - Type the 6-digit code from the TV or scan the QR code with your phone’s camera to go to the website.
- Log in with your Vizio account email and password. If you don’t have an account, click Create a New Account and add your name, email, and a password.
- The TV will show a message like “Your TV is linked!” when done.
- The TV might update or ask you to agree tothe terms. Press OK to continue.
Way 2: Using the Vizio Mobile App
- Download the Vizio Mobile app from the Google Play Store (Android) or App Store (iOS).
- Open the app and log in or make a new account with your email and password.
- Make sure your TV and phone are on the same Wi-Fi network.
- In the app, tap Device Selector or Add Device.
- Pick your TV from the list.
- Enter the 4-digit or 6-digit code shown on the TV (go to Menu > System > Vizio Account to see it).
- The app will connect the TV to your account.
- The app will say the TV is linked. You can now use the app as a remote or try features like WatchFree+.
- Test by opening an app or casting a video from the app to the TV.
Way 3: Using a USB Keyboard (No Remote)
- Find the Input and Volume Down buttons on the TV (usually on the back or side).
- Press and hold both for 7–10 seconds to see the setup screen.
- Plug a USB keyboard into the TV’s USB port.
- Use the keyboard’s arrow keys to go to System > Vizio Account or Link Account.
- Select Link Account and write down the 6-digit code on the screen.
- On your phone or computer, go to vizio.com/setup and type the code.
- Log in or create a Vizio account (like in Way 1).
- Press Enter on the keyboard to confirm on the TV.
Fixing Problems
- Code Doesn’t Work:
- Codes only last 15–20 minutes. Go back to System > Vizio Account > Link Account for a new one.
- Check that you typed the code correctly.
- Clear your browser’s history or try another browser (like Chrome or Firefox).
- Website or App Not Working:
- Make sure your phone/computer and TV are on the same Wi-Fi.
- Update the Vizio Mobile app to the latest version.
- If vizio.com/setup doesn’t load, try another device or check your internet.
- Can’t Log In:
- Double-check your email and password. Reset your password at vizio.com/setup if you forgot it.
- Wait 15–30 minutes if the website is slow.
- TV Not Found by App:
- Check that both the TV and phone are on the same Wi-Fi.
- Unplug the TV and router for 30 seconds, then try again.
- Update the TV’s software: Menu > System > Check for Updates (use an Ethernet cable if Wi-Fi isn’t working).
- Reset the TV:
- If nothing works, reset the TV: Menu > System > Reset & Admin > Reset to Factory Settings. This clears all settings and apps, so you’ll need to set up Wi-Fi and apps again.
- Try linking again after the reset.
- Get Help from Vizio:
- Go to support.vizio.com or call 1-844-254-8087 (US).
- Tell them your TV’s model number (check Menu > System > System Information or the back of the TV)
